Stranger

This exhibition approaches the concept of the “Stranger” not as a fixed figure, but as a notion in constant motion between individual existence and collective structures. It confronts the viewer with the tension that arises from our efforts to adapt and find a place within society amid the struggles of personal existence, and with the realization that everything we other is, in fact, inseparable from our own reflection in the mirror. The familiar and the unfamiliar are not treated here as opposing poles; rather, they are conceived as intersecting spaces that nourish, transform, and redefine one another.

Burak Biryan

Burak Biryan was born in 2000 in Trabzon, Turkey. He completed his high school education in Trabzon and graduated in 2024 from the Painting Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design at Trabzon University. The same year, he began his master’s degree in Painting at Trabzon University. He has worked as a designer and illustrator at Vives Tasarım Tic. Ltd. Şti., and currently works as an art instructor at X Atölye Akademi.

His works focus on the simple rituals of daily life, offering a timeless narrative of personal memory. Centered around acts of manual labor, they aim to guide the viewer toward recollections of the past. The curves of yarn and knitting are intended to draw the viewer’s attention, while the brushstrokes emphasize the textured surface of the knitted forms, making the physical traces of labor visible.

By placing a “güğüm”—a traditional water container—at the center of the composition, the theme of waiting is reinforced, evoking a sense of quietly observing the passage of time. A resting mother figure reflects fatigue and stillness, while the presence of a cat in the lower right corner of the canvas reinforces the themes of care and closeness. With its gaze directed toward the woman, the cat gently reminds the viewer of warmth within familiar relationships.

The series “My Mother’s Stitches” aims to awaken tactile memories of the past through the simple act of knitting, invoking both emotional intimacy and cultural resonance.

Yağızhan Çalışkan

Born in Ankara in 1992, the artist is currently working in Istanbul. After graduating from Ankara Anatolian Fine Arts High School in 2010, he completed his undergraduate education with a full scholarship in Plastic Arts and Painting Department at Yeditepe University, Faculty of Fine Arts. He completed his master's degree at the same university and started his Art Proficiency Doctorate program in the Painting Department at Marmara University in 2019, where he is still continuing his studies. He also works as a research assistant at Yeditepe University.

The young artist examines the relationship between human beings and nature on an existential level. With a multidisciplinary approach, the artist, who works in different production areas, sees human creation as nature's effort to understand itself. In his works, without establishing a relationship between time and space, he questions the sharpness of the artificial-natural distinction of human beings and the dogmatic attitude towards nature that develops from this sharpness.

Nur Gürel

Nur Gürel completed bachelor`s degree at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Painting in 2004, and her master`s degree at the same school in 2007.
Nur Gürel deals with all the impositions that turn society into a consumer society and their consequences. The biggest instrument in this regard is manipulation. While in previous works, wallpapers with landscape images used for decoration were used as materials, later photographs, magazines, posters and billboard advertisements were also included in these ready-made visual images. She aims to create tension in her works by using contrasts such as inside-outside, photography-painting, digital print-painting, city-forest, thin-fat. She intervenes in the image , not digitally, but with a particularly primitive sensitivity. In this way, the sterilized advertising language is broken and becomes natural. Topics vary depending on what is intended to be manipulated

Feza Güvenal

In her work, Güvenal ponders on the tension between the contemporary chaos and her personal serenity. While giving character to distant colors, she emphasizes a fierce power of resistance and the energy to start anew.
Güvenal (1962 İstanbul), finished Robert College and  earned her degrees in BS Industrial Engineering and MBA at Boğaziçi University. After her decision to focus on art,  she earned her Master of Fine Arts degree (High Honors) at Yeditepe University with her thesis on the pioneering women of the Abstract Expressionist movement.
She works in Istanbul and Philadelphia.

Serra Kuşkaya

Serra Kuskaya was born in Istanbul in 1992. After graduating from Istanbul Avni Akyol Anatolian Fİne Arts High School Painting Department, she continued her education at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts Universty Painting Department, and after spending a period of her education at Complutense Universty of Madrid by participating in the Erasmus programme, she complated her undergraduate education in 2015.

She contiues her works in her studio in Fethiye.

In her productions, the artist confronts the nature that has been destroyed by human beings as a result of the destructions created by human beings reflections of inadequacy and helplessness in the effort to adapt. With human waste and artefacts that will take thousands of years to disappear, the ephemerality of our existence and scenes that tell us about the permanence of our traces.

Mustafa Orkun Müftüoğlu

Loya Kader Öztürkmen

Loya Kader Öztürkmen, born in Denizli, pursued her passion for painting and art despite her family’s and surrounding community’s differing views on education. Without anyone knowing, she took the special talent exam and from 2009 to 2013, she studied Painting at the Pamukkale University Department of Fine Arts. In 2015, she was appointed to Istanbul and began her career as a painting teacher. She continues to work as a painting teacher and, expressing the unsatisfied restlessness within her since childhood, she continues to create in her studio.

The artist examines the concept of reality, emphasizing the illusion effect of perception's variability and the changing perception of reality in her works. She presents the illusion of the changing nature of reality through two main materials: mesh and net. By separating the body, mind, and soul, she offers the material’s illusionary effect through its transparent structure as a whole. She presents the fear, loneliness, indecision, instability, escape, aggression, and sheltering created by the existential awareness of knowing one will die while alive, with a futuristic attitude, using the contrast of being and non-being. The multiple figures in her works highlight the difficulty of decision-making before action, the irreversible consequences of the decisions made, and the chain of actions resulting from those decisions, emphasizing the unsettling sequence of actions.

Elena Papadimitriou

She studied at the Faculty of Applied Arts between 1989-1990. Between 1991-1996 Professor P. Tetsis and Professor Ch. She took lessons from Mpotsoglou. Between 1993-1994, St. She completed her education at Carles Fine Arts University.

Maria Roza

Born in Baku in 1998, lives and works in Ankara. After graduating from the Fine Arts High School of Ankara, she studied at Hacettepe University Painting Department and graduated with a degree. Recently, she completed her Master of Fine Arts at the same university.
The young artist focuses in her works on the relationship humankind has with animals and with primitivity, and on the structural and functional features of these relations. What she aims for is to make her audience feel the uncanny atmosphere in her works and still provide them with a safe harbour by nesting them in the pleasing harmony and aesthetics of the paintings.
