Is dialogue exclusively a phenomenon between humans? How does a person relate to nature and other animals, and what connection do these relationships have with the unconscious mind? Existential philosophy and ecological thought have expanded the boundaries of dialogue beyond the strictly human realm. So, can these interspecies and nature-based relationships genuinely be regarded as a form of dialogue? The Primal Dialogues exhibition delves into the complex web of human interactions with nature and animals, integrating the unconscious dimension inherent in these relationships. Artist Maria Roza investigates symbolic transitions across various planes of existence, guiding the viewer through a profound intellectual and introspective journey.
For the young artist Maria Roza, Primal Dialogues represents a process of exploration that visually examines the enduring bonds between humans, nature, and animals, and the role of the unconscious within these interactions. Her work expresses these connections through symbolic transitions that emphasize the dynamic interplay between internal psyche and external reality. The relationships between consciousness and the unconscious, between humanity and nature, are reflected through imagery capturing liminal moments where traditional boundaries dissolve, articulated through a language of magical realism and symbolism. Maria Roza’s paintings bring together both the serene and chaotic, primal aspects of nature. The overlapping, interwoven dynamics of her chosen imagery become a symbolic language; this fusion of natural and psychological elements reveals the layered complexity of existence. Through this approach, Maria Roza invites the viewer to engage deeply with these underlying complexities.
Each form encountered in the exhibition seeks to establish a bridge between human and animal, nature and culture, past and present. However, this bridge is fluid, swaying, fracturing, and at times disappearing entirely as primal dialogues unfold within an ever-shifting context where definitions lose their rigidity. The primal is connected not only to the past but also to the mystery of the future. In her work, Maria Roza ventures beyond the familiar, seeking the inner echoes of the unknown. These dialogues resist external manipulation, resonating instead with the multifaceted voices within each individual. Primal Dialogues thus calls upon contemporary humans to reconnect with their own voice, continuing a timeless dialogue that bridges the primal and the present.
