My Inner Garden

İlyas Tiryaki

Born in Istanbul in 1962, artist İlyas Tiryaki completed his undergraduate studies at the Department of Painting, Marmara University between 1984 and 1990, and later earned his master’s degree in the same department. Since his student years, Tiryaki has participated in various group exhibitions and competitions, and for many years he continued his artistic practice independently. The artist now presents his first solo exhibition “My Inner Garden” at Istanbul Concept Studio, on view from August 21 to August 31, 2025.

In his artistic practice, Tiryaki primarily works with acrylic paint, while also incorporating mixed media techniques that add an experimental dimension to his works. Centering his approach on exploring the possibilities of colors and forms, the artist both maintains a connection with traditional painting practices and pushes beyond their boundaries by experimenting with layered colors, surface textures, and diverse technical applications.

His works alternate between abstract compositions and figurative elements. These figurative approaches create a visual space that feels both familiar and reinterpreted for the viewer, while his unique engagement with color reveals an artistic research focused on composition and chromatic balance.

“My Inner Garden” exhibition makes visible the artist’s long-term journey of exploration developed through his creative process. Through his work with color and form, Tiryaki invites the audience to reflect on the technical and aesthetic possibilities of painting from different perspectives. The artist continues his practice in his studio located in Cihannüma.
