Istanbul Concept Gallery is hosting the solo exhibition "You Entered with Your Desire" by Dr. Gökçe Sözen. On view from May 7 to 16, 2025, the exhibition invites viewers to a provocative encounter—both visually and intellectually—through works shaped around the axes of body, desire, and pleasure.

A faculty member at the Faculty of Art and Design at Beykoz University, Gökçe Sözen draws inspiration from the psychoanalytic theory of Jacques Lacan, particularly his approach to the relationship between desire and subjectivity. Rather than representing the body, Sözen’s works transform it into a surface of desire—one that becomes activated through the viewer’s gaze and points to the fragile and intense nature of contact with pleasure.

"You Entered with Your Desire" uses eroticism not as a theme, but as a language. It is not the bare body that is central here, but the fragmented, fluctuating, repressed yet leaking nature of desire. Throughout the exhibition, a question lingers in the background:

Was it really you who entered this room—or was it your desire that pushed you in?

Sözen’s works turn the viewer into more than a passive observer: they become part of this sensual and mental terrain—perhaps even its victim. Each piece reveals a new fracture point in the relationship between body and desire; not just a gaze, but a seepage, a passage, a drawing inward.
