Istanbul Concept Gallery presents Andreas Georgiadis' painting exhibition entitled "Mythology II: A personal mythology" between March 21-April 25, 2025.

Two years after his highly acclaimed exhibition “Report to C. P. Cavafy”, Georgiadis returns with his fourth solo exhibition in Istanbul, offering a personal interpretation of his world, fragments of memories and experiences through 24 works, all painted with colour inks on cotton paper.

The artist’s love for Istanbul is evident in several of his new works, where he presents a contemporary perspective of the city and its people, focusing on less popular neighborhoods such as Cihangir, Fatih, Kadıköy, Üsküdar, and Yeniköy —places where the soul of the city reveals itself away from the well-trodden paths. Beyond Istanbul, his works also serve as a poetic travel diary, blending real-life experiences with imagined landscapes. Drawing inspiration from literature, cinema, and the collective unconscious, Georgiadis creates a layered mythology of his own, where places become symbols, figures dissolve into memory, and ink breathes life into personal and universal narratives.
His “personal mythology” is further enriched with works drawn from memory, fueled by his imagination and references to literary and cinematic masterpieces from the global repertoire, such as Luigi Pirandello, George Seferis, Kiki Dimoula, Attilâ İlhan, Murathan Mungan, Andrei Tarkovsky, Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, Paolo Sorrentino etc.

His approach is both methodical and intuitive—stripping away the obvious to uncover the essence beneath. Instead of simply documenting, he distills emotions, architectural fragments, and human presence into visual echoes of personal and cultural heritage.

A striking feature of this exhibition is the intentional absence of titles, a deliberate invitation for viewers to step into the artist’s world without predefined interpretations. Each piece becomes a mirror for the audience...
